Jon has been part of the Montrose County organization since 2005. His tenure began with a stint in the Planning and Development Department where he worked in a series of progressively responsible roles including Senior Planner and Planning Services Manager. During this time, Jon led an in-house update of the Montrose County Master Plan and streamlined processes that allowed the county to process a record volume of land use applications while concurrently reducing staffing levels within the department.

In 2013, Jon was promoted to his current position as Government Affairs Director. In this broad role, Jon coordinates the county’s involvement with public lands and natural resource issues. Administration of the county’s economic development activities including business tax credit agreements, scholarship initiatives and a variety of intergovernmental projects are a part of his responsibilities.

Some of the larger projects that Jon oversees include project and budget management for the Rimrocker Trail and the county’s conditionally decreed water rights. These responsibilities include supervision of staff in the ecological services and government affairs programs.
